Food_Drive_1.jpgDonate

Donation boxes can be seen literally anywhere these days, but if you take a look inside one, chances are that it is barely filled with anything. Many people don’t even think of sharing/donating a few cans of food, donating some too-small hand-me-downs, or even sparing some loose change. The little things that you provide could help a cold, starving child somewhere, somehow in America.

Volunteer

Instead of spending your lifeless, humdrum weekends on the couch lazing around and watching TV, get up and join a charity, like the Salvation Army. The entire workforce is comprised of volunteers, and yet another helping hand to provide and hand out food and supplies to families across the US is another person receiving help and support during tough times. Instead of thinking forward about the next show you’re planning to watch, think forward to the many families you could help in a charity, the many people you are helping when you go and support those people.

Raise Awareness

Sure, you may know that there are many people living in poverty in America right now. But do you know how many? 14.5% of US households, nearly 49 million Americans, currently live in a state of poverty. These people are struggling to feed their children, struggling to pull through and constantly tell their children, “It’ll all be over soon, it’ll be alright,” when they all know that it is nigh impossible for them to be helped with the current level of ignorance that this society is displaying. 16.2 million children are living, if one can even call it that, in shacks, with homeless families, uneducated, starving, cold. These children are the future – but if they are exposed to such hardships, how can we have a better future? We must band together to inform the public about such a tragic loss in humanity. These people must be helped, but no one knows enough to even care. Post pictures, donate, promote the poor. They must be heard to be helped.
